Fans of the Harry Potter books will be thrilled to know that, for years now, there have been wizarding rock groups around.
Affectionately dubbed “Wrock” groups, these particular bands were created right around the release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.” Paul and Joe Degeorge had a last minute cancelation for a backyard concert at their home, so they decided to form Harry and the Potters. Quite quickly they became a wrocking and rolling success, which led to them touring the U.S.A.
This is one of Harry and the Potters most famous Wrock songs:
It kind of makes me giggle a bit, but I also enjoyed the lyrics. They are honestly just what you would think that Harry was thinking during the whole course of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Many other wizarding bands have formed since this time. Some notable bands are:
1. Parselmouths:
2. The Whomping Willows:
3. The Remus Lupins:
4. Draco and the Malfoys:
5. Tonks and the Aurors:
6. The Butter Beer Experience:
7. The Ministry of Magic:
Some of these songs are definitely fun to listen to. The lyrics are straightforward in most cases. This is definitely an interesting way to showcase fan’s complete and total love affair with the Harry Potter Universe!
All of the bands focus on making musical renditions that would appeal to the characters they are representing. For example Harry and the Potters would focus on creating songs that highlighted notable parts of Harry’s plot line from the books. The same would go for Draco Malfoy and Tonks (who hilariously has many songs that include performance induced clapping). Really, Tonks and the Aurors definitely has a great sense of humor. Only some bands create parody songs based on Harry Potter characters.
