Calling all witches, wizards, and muggles, this is not a drill! Universal Studios Florida just announced the opening date of the much anticipated addition to the land of every Harry Potter fan’s dream, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Diagon Alley to be July 8. For all who (like myself) have already made their trip to the incredibly detailed and stunning theme park, fear not because there is so much more to get ridiculously excited about.

There has been a 20-acre land addition to the original theme park the Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Hogsmeade. The two sections will be joined by a life-size Hogwarts Express train, which previously had just been a decorative piece before this change. The ride will shuttle guests from their version of Kings Cross Station in Universal Studios to the Hogsmeade Station in Islands of Adventure. On their journey people will pass replicated scenes from London and the British countryside. The ride will also have a four minute long Harry Potter video specifically created to entertain its passengers.

Diagon Alley’s biggest attraction is going to be a roller coaster known as Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. It features 4K digital animation, state of the art projection systems, and live special effects. It will obviously be based off of the scene in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 since that’s when this journey took place and just from that movie that scene was meant to be a ride, any fan could have called that. It sounds though like it’ll be going down the same road of the Hogwarts ride where it’ll be a simplistic ride made incredible due to the special effects and interactive options. The real excitement may even just be getting to the ride. You’ll have to walk through the hall of Gringotts just like in the movie and see goblins on your way. Straight out of our imaginations and JK Rowling’s words, this beautiful place will come to life. For more information about the ride check out this clip.

There will also be themed restaurants just as in Hogsmeade, they’ll include The Leaky Cauldron where guests can enjoy typical pub-style food along with their magical beverages and Florean Fortescue’s ice cream parlor. These restaurants will continue to serve the ever-popular butterbeer and pumpkin juice, but also new treats like flavored ice cream and ‘interactive’ wands. There will also be many new shops straight from the book as well to fill this new park such as Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes a novelty joke shop, Borgin and Burkes for all those death eaters wanting to stock up on dark magic or just jewelry along with other fun items, Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions, Magical Menagerie, and much more!

This park is definitely a go-to attraction for all  Harry Potter fans, young and old. Single Park admissions for Universal Studios is $96 for adults and $90 for children. But you’re going to need a park-to-park admission pass if you’re going to enjoy all the Wizarding World has to offer which is $136 for adults and $130 for children. Don’t stress about the price too much because there are discounts for buying online and multi-day tickets, but in truth a great trip like this is truly worth a little splurge to enter a fictional fantasy for a while.
